Situated on hill overlooking the city\u2019s downtown, Sacred Heart serves as the only parish and Catholic school for the entire area representing Coshocton, Riverview, and Ridgewood school systems. Sacred Heart provides a balanced curriculum for students in grades preschool through grade seven.\u00a0 We<\/span>\u00a0offer a smaller class sizes than the traditional elementary school which enables our faculty to have significant impact on the educational development of our students. Sacred Heart\u2019s emphasis is on moral development, service to others and leadership skills.\u00a0 We are able to offer a safe and disciplined environment.<\/span><\/p>

\"\"Our Catholic faith is the foundation on which Sacred Heart School stands. With Christ as our example, we welcome all faiths and value our diverse student body. We practice and learn our Christian faith as an integral part of each school day. Pre-K through 7th grade celebrates our faith through religion class, daily prayer, weekly Mass, and through service to our school, parish and Coshocton community.<\/p>

Our curriculum established by the Diocese of Columbus, focuses on the the four pillars of our faith. We deepen that faith through prayer, traditional devotions and celebrations of the Catholic Church. Sacramental preparations are also incorporated into the curriculum at the appropriate grade levels.<\/span><\/p>

History of Sacred Heart School<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In 1896 the lot at Eighth and Walnut Streets was purchased for the Sacred Heart church and adjacent buildings by Fr. Walter A. Ross. The cornerstone was laid by Fr. Ross (October 10, 1897) and the new church was dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on July 17, 1898, by Bishop Watterson. On September 15, 1907, Sacred Heart School was dedicated as a 12-year school with staffing of the Dominican Sisters of St. Mary of the Springs, Columbus, OH. The school has been active since 1907, currently solely an elementary school with grades Kindergarten through Seventh and an active Preschool. Through the years the parish has grown in number as well as property. Property purchased over the next 50+ years allowed for expansion of the school, a convent for the sisters who taught at the school as well as play areas for the children. Also added were parking areas. The most recent acquisition is the house which serves as the rectory and parish offices. 2005 saw the establishment of Sacred Heart\u2019s St. Vincent de Paul Society. This organization is our parish\u2019s outreach to meet the emergency needs of all in our area, fulfilling our call to feed the hungry and care for God\u2019s most precious ones, the poor. Sacred Heart is currently the church home of 600+ registered families and over 1,500 souls. The dedication of the parishioners to the Catholic faith and the great commission of Christ to build up the Church has been the strength and the central goal of the parish during times of difficulty and prosperity. Sacred Heart is the only Catholic school on a 40 miles radius
area, enrolling more than 125 students from different race, ethnicity and faith.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
